Well researched with a sense of humor
Well researched with a sense of humor and personality is exactly what I want from a history podcast. Plus the episodes are a good length. Not too long for my limited attention span!

Not your grandmas sauce
My fathers side is full Italian but sadly they don’t know much about their past. I found there are not many Italian history podcasts. I have really enjoyed this one. This show has been fun to listen to and he does his best to bring as much to the show as he can. Talking about a whole country is hard but I feel what is highlighted is spot on. I’ll warn you this podcast could be split up because he does some sub shows about fascists and the mob. Still good stuff.

Wonderful and Entertaining!
This podcast continues the story from Mike Duncan’s History of Rome in a fun and entertaining way. Some of the episodes seem to be cut short, but the skits by the A History of Italy Players are hilarious!

I wish history was taught this way!
This is my favorite history podcast. It’s like Monty Python decided to explain Italy’s history. Hugely entertaining, love his skits found at the end of most episodes performed by Mike and his family. the only complaint is the episodes are only less than 1/2 an hour. I need more.

One of my Favorites - Excellent History Podcast
This is an excellent podcast for binge listening and learning and the host is an absolute delight to listen to with a unique sense of history and a clear passion for Italian history.

Incredibly fun and informative podcast that covers Italy from the fall of the Western Roman Empire onwards. Filled with just enough wit to keep it lively and paced beautifully to move it along, it's one of my favorites. (I'm hoping he'll eventually, after running through the overall history, maybe go back to individual regions or cities and dig more into them since they ALL have a lot of history that's unique and fascinating.)
Oh, and don't miss the little skits at the end. They're funny and adorable.

Happy I found this
Mike has a wonderful sense of humor and creates memorable scenes bringing medieval Italian history to life. A few special episodes of more recent events and Italian politics are also interesting. His perspective as someone who has lived in Italy, Britain and America gives an authenticity and relatability to the show.

Fun, interesting and educational!
Very well researched and informative. Great pace. I especially loved the side trip to Bologna and would love ❤️ more focused episodes like that which take us a level deeper into the Italian cities.

All hail the Great Turnip!
This podcast is so well informed, produced, and enjoyable to listen to. The host has a soothing voice that doesn’t become hard to listen to when doing mini-binges, and I look forward to the humorous sketches at the end of the episodes. All in all a wonderful job!

Very interesting, great host, lots of fun and informative
The show is well researched and has multiple sources and is highly informative. The host is quite funny as well. It’s easy to listen too and easy to learn from. I highly recommend it to any history lovers out there. The host also connects history nicely to modern Italian culture and langue.

Entertaining Concise and Informative
A History of Italy is a ge., I thought I had run out of quality "A History of's" to listen to, but this one knocks it out of the park. Mike is consistant with releases, great with humor, and the podcast never feels like a slog. His occational side notes into modern politics and modern history have also helped me be more informed about the current events of Italy.

Perfect Companion to Traveling Through and Exploring Italy
Briliantly combines two of my favorite interests, Italy and history. Mike does an amazing job of presenting a very enjoyable thorough and detailed history of the Italiy. Perfect balance of scholarlyship and entertainment. Having recently traveled through Italy, the podcast ehnaced our trip, and having been to Italy helps to make the podcast comes alive.
