I have just found this podcast and I have listened to a few episodes. I love the detail. There are not many podcasts dealing with the years after the Empire falls and I enjoy that. The comedy in the episodes is also nice. Good podcast on after Rome.

I cannot say enough good things about this delightful podcast. I started listening to educate myself in preparation for a trip to Italy, which was ages ago, and I can’t stop listening. The history of Italy is insanely complicated, but this podcast carefully walks you through it year by year with the driest of humor. I frequently laugh out loud while listening to the post-Roman empire antics in Italy. Even if you don’t care one bit about the history of Italy (which you should!), I highly recommend this podcast.

I can’t say enough how much I love this podcast. It is detailed and accurate but also hilarious. Mike is a superb storyteller, and I look forward to learning and laughing with him every week. My only complaint is that I cannot get to Italy to see the places Mike talks about right now. My next trip to Italy will be richer because of this podcast. ❤️😅 🇮🇹

Mike is a wonderful storyteller. He has me captivated by his knowledge and rolling in laughter with his role playing and interjections of Monty Python references. Mike makes me feel like part of the broader Italian famiglia especially when I hear references to people in my ancestry like Tancred de Hauteville and his son Robert Guiscard, both of whom are great grandfathers of mine from long, long ago. Now, I am eagerly waiting to hear about the de Medici of Firenze and the Savoy of Turin, also great grandfathers and great grandmothers of mine. I found A History of Italy at episode #2 and I'm so glad I did. History is an avid interest of mine, and particularly Italian history. Most people are at least somewhat familiar with the Roman Empire and the Italian Renaissance, but what happened between those and after is vague. Not many American high schools dwell at all on Italian history. This podcast is quite the opposite of high school history. It is interesting, and Mr. Corradi is very easy to listen to. He has the type of dry humor that makes the subject comprehensible. It's fun. I have a BA in history and I've learned more in the last few months about post-Empire Italy than in my four years at University. Thank you for this excellent podcast!

Witty, well-organized, coherent (but not dumbed-down) overview Italian history. Great voice quality, diction and speed. Highly recommend Special Episode 1 on the recent Italian election which makes the incomprehensible comprehensible.

I’m not sure if the podcaster’s name, but holy jeez this is one of the funniest history podcasts I’ve ever listened to. It’s clever, great info, the story telling is fantastic, but the real gold here is the humor of this podcast. Absolutely fantastic. Do yourself a favor and just listen to the first main episode, you’ll be hooked.
